Dear guests,

The long tradition of viticulture and wine making of Sever family contributed to the creation of high-quality wine varieties. We are the winners of gold medals and repeatedly declared the county champion for quality wines. Our vineyards are situated on gentle slopes of the Cesarska Mountain. Due to its favorable location and insolation, they provide the grapes of exceptional quality, resulting in quality wines that come to the market with the label of controlled origin. The wine offer includes – Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc, Riesling, Pinot Gris and Riesling, and we are particularly well known for wine production of the indigenous variety Sokol (falcon).

This variety is special because of its very strong skin. In the past, it was used as an edible fruit. For wine making, this variety is harvested only when the grapes begin to dry on the vine. Last year, 2014, when everybody was harvesting grapes earlier than ever, Sokol was maturing until September 1, providing a strong, powerful wine with 14.5 percent alcohol, solid body and delicate aromas. By flavor and sweetness, it reminds you of the fragrant Traminers from the French region of Alsace, but the aromas are not that intense. Taste it along with soft cheese, cornbread and pumpkin seed oil.

The guide will welcome you In Klanjec downtown and from there he will take you on a sightseeing tour of the Franciscan monastery, including a visit to the Church of Annunciation of Our Lady, monastery library and the basement of the monastery. In the basement, you will see a decorated crypt with sarcophagi of the Erdödy family – once a wine cellar where the wine „Sokol” was produced and kept. This is the place where the story of „Sokol” begins, because the counts Erdödy donated the Franciscans – in the 17th century – the land for cultivation of Sokol. The story of „Sokol” continues by visiting the Broz hill, viewpoint situated at 5-10 minutes’ walk from Klanjec downtown, with a beautiful view of the Klanjec vineyards. After enjoying the view, you will go down to the Klanječka Pelnica. In the winery and wine tasting cellar, you will taste the indigenous vineyard cheese, homemade bread, pumpkin seed oil and participate in wine tasting for 30 to 120 minutes. In addition to the interesting stories and entertaining wine prayer, you will enjoy 5 – 6 wine varieties, of which the most important variety is „Sokol”.
